Removing Wallpaper
Has scraping that old wallpaper gotten you nowhere except adding blisters to your hand? Do this instead: Find a one quart spray bottle, fill it up with warm water, add two tablespoons of liquid fabric softener, then spray your wallpaper. Wait about 30 minutes for it all to soak into the paper, then scrape. Blisters gone along with the wallpaper.

Bathroom Sink/Tub Drain Back Up
Do you keep plunging the sink drain and plunging some more to no avail? Do this instead: Before you try to plunge the sink or tub drain, first take a wet rag and cover the overflow hole near the rim. Once you have done that, the air pocket is plugged up and you can plunge with suction instead of just pushing air through the overflow hole.

Wood Floor Creak
Tired of trying to sneak downstairs to grab the last cookie, only to step on that same creaky spot that got you caught last night? Do this: Sprinkle a little talcum powder between the boards, which will fill in around the tongue and groove areas, reducing the friction between the boards. And viola – grab that last cookie before someone else does.

Shower Head Crust
You have now sprayed a whole bottle of “toxic stuff” on the shower head and you feel a little light headed. Do this instead: Fill a plastic bag about half way with white vinegar and place over the shower head. Tie the end around the shower head pipe and let it sit for about an hour (longer if really crusty). Remove bag and run shower to flush out vinegar.

Door Frame Sag
That door keeps sagging, so much so that it now drags the floor, and you have to lift up on the door knob to close it properly. Do this: Take the loose screws out of the hinge and tap in wooden golf tees (coated with white glue) into the holes. Tap enough to really drive them into the holes. Once dry, cut off the protruding tees, and install the screws back into place. Now, take the other tees and go play a round of golf. You deserve it after fixing all these problems in the house.
